BMW MINIs Will Be Build In China With Great Wall

BMW will be working with Great Wall in a new joint venture called Spotlight Automotive where they will be setting up a new factory in China which will work on producing the future MINI EV models.

The factory will be built in Zhangjiagang, China and will have an annual capacity of 160,000. Besides building the electric Minis, the plant will also be building electric vehicles from Great Wall. Great Wall and BMW will also be working together on developing future EV models but they did not reveal what they will be working on.

While there is a new plant in China, the Oxford, UK factory will still be the heart and home of the company while Spotlight Automotive will help with the capacity.

BMW will also be working with Brilliance, the China company to help with the production of the BMW iX3 which will come as a 2020 model.
