Your Ford Fusion & Escape Transmission Gear Indicator Could Be Lying [Recall}

By  |

If you own a Ford Fusion or Ford Escape that was made fro 2013 to 2016, you might want to take note of this.

Ford has just issued a recalled to bring back some of their Ford Fusion and Ford Escape after they found out that the shifter cable bushings might be faulty. The faulty bushing could cause the cables to detach from the transmission or malfunction and have the gear indicator read a different gear from reality which means you might think it is in Park but in reality, it is not.

Since this would not trigger the warning message, owners will not know that their transmission is malfunctioning. No accidents or injuries caused by the issue has been reported so far.

A total of 549,401 units of vehicles will be affected by this recall in NA. Ford will replace the bushings for free but while owners wait for the fix, it is advised that they use their parking brake for now. Check out their website to check whether your vehicle is affected.
