Volvo XC40 Will Be The Chosen One For New Engine

Volvo now has a new entry-level engine and the Volvo XC40 compact SUV will be the first model to be fitted with the engine.

The new engine will be Volvo’s first triple engine. The turbocharged T3 gasoline engine will be coming in with 156hp and 195lb ft of torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission for now but an eight-speed auto transmission option will be offered in the future.

The engine also makes a good match for the PHEV version as Volvo says it was designed with the Twin Engine plug-in hybrid in mind which means we might see a PHEV XC40 model soon as well. The three-cylinder engine will only be offered in Europe for now but Volvo has announced that it will be coming to the US in the future so might have to wait a little longer for that.

Currently, in the US, the Volvo XC40 will be offered with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that will be offering about 187hp and 221lb ft of torque.
