Volvo XC40: First To Offer It

By  |

Volvo recently announces that they now have a new entry-level engine and the first model that will be sporting it will be the upcoming Volvo XC40 compact SUV model.

The new engine is a triple engine which is a first for Volvo as well. The turbocharged T3 gasoline engine will be offering about 156hp and 195lb ft of torque. The engine will come mated a six-speed manual transmission to start with but it will also be getting the eight-speed auto transmission in the future.

According to Volvo, the engine is also a good match for the PHEV version as it was designed with the twin-engine plug-in hybrid engine in mind which means we might also see a PHEV XC40 model soon. Sadly, Volvo will only be offering the new engine in Europe for now. No work on when it will be coming to the US.

Those living in the US will have to make do with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that Volvo is offering right now.
