Volvo XC40 Confirmed, To Be First Full EV From Volvo

By  |

After all the speculations and rumors, it has finally been confirmed that the Volvo XC40 will be coming in as the first full EV model from Volvo.

Speaking to Autocar, Ingenlath confirmed that the full EV Volvo XC40 will be arriving once Polestar launches its second model next year which will be called the E.

The Volvo XC40 is not the only full EV model that Volvo plans to offer. After the Volvo XC40, Volvo will be working on the EV version of the next-gen Volvo XC90 which will be going into production in 2021.

Volvo added that their plan will not be to introduce brand new models with an EV powertrain but to offer electronic versions of their existing models. This differs from what some of the other automakers are doing out there but Volvo thinks that this would make the transition from standard petrol engines to full EV easier and smoother.
