Google’s Shameful Secrets: Verizon & Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S 4G

By  |

While we adore the Google Nexus range, there are 3 particular Nexus models that we are sure Google wish they could hide under a rug – the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus & Nexus S 4G.

No Verizon & Sprint Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S 4G yet

Despite all being portrayed by their respective carriers and bringing the “pure Google experience”, none of these Nexus smartphones have received their respective Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates. The same thankfully cannot be said about the GSM variants of these devices as well as those on other carriers around the world. They are already enjoying the new features that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean have to offer.

Back to the Verizon and Sprint models, the carriers have yet to announce a release date for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and so far we’ve already seen the Galaxy S3 have its Jelly Bean update leaked. The S3 of course isn’t a pure Google device which further adds to this farce.

If there is one thing we can learn from this experience, avoid buying a Google experience device from these respective carriers and instead opt for the unlocked version if you really want to see updates arrive in a timely fashion.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
