Verizon Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean Update Brings Lost Feature Back

Last night the Jelly Bean JR0030 update surfaced for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus and it can now be downloaded. However there are some things that you will need to know before you go ahead and flash your device.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean update leaks, brings unified search feature back

To start with you will have to ensure that you have stock G-Nex which runs IMM76Q and you have to be aware that this is a test build. However if you can live with these two things then you can go ahead and download it here.

There are reports that the update comes with a new bootloader and new radios, FF02 and FFO2 LTE and these alone may be well worth the update.

If you want to install the update go back to stock IMM76K which probably means you will need to wipe everything by flashing factory images. Then install ClockworkMod Recovery and flash it with the install zip from SD card. You can then download the JR0030 Jelly Bean file to your Samsung Galaxy Nexus and then flash it with CWM Recovery. On the other hand it won’t be long until someone decides to turn it into a flashable zip file for use with any ROM.

We’ve given it a try and have noticed that the unified search feature has returned. As you might be aware, during the Samsung Galaxy Nexus ban in the US, an update was sent out to disable unified search from all the Ice Cream Sandwich Samsung Galaxy Nexus handsets out there. Well it is back now with Jelly Bean!
