This year was all about the Toyota Supra for the automaker as fans waited anxiously for the vehicle to arrive. The launch of the Supra was pretty successful but Toyota has now moved on to an even higher goal.
According to Tetsuya Tada, the chief engineer for Toyota, they are hoping that the new Toyota 86 would be able to surpass the Supra. It was not explained how it will be surpassing but did say that they already have a new 86 team ready. However, it was also added that this does not guarantee a second-generation 86.
While the vehicle has not been given the green light yet, it was rumored that we will see a concept at the Tokyo Auto Show next month and that Toyota will continue to work with Subaru on the model.
Best Car also reported that the vehicle will come powered by the 2.4-liter flat-four engine that the Ascent will get. Hopefully, we do get to see it in Tokyo next month.
