Toyota Corolla: Forget Turbochargers They Would Put Vision Off Track

By  |

When the 10th gen Honda Civic made its way out we all got a big surprise as it was a great deal better than the version that came before it. The Civic brought with it the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder turbo engine, this turned out to be more economical than the Honda Fit while at the same time offering the power of the Civic Si. This lead to fans of the Toyota Corolla asking for a new version to rival the Civic.

People are hoping to see the arrival of a turbocharged Toyota Corolla so that the performance of the vehicle will be given a huge boost. But is this going to happen? We really can’t envision it happening as while it would mean greater fuel economy figures, it would go against the plans of Toyota to offer reliable and economical vehicles.

The Toyota Corolla has been said to be a bulletproof compact sedan, due to the fact that it goes on and on for decades and it offers running costs that are low. Should Toyota alter the powertrain it would happen with hybrid technology and not with turbocharged engines?
