T-Mobile iPhone 5 Out This Summer, Gives Subsidies The Finger On Exit

T-Mobile and iPhone fans will be happy to hear the comments made by the pink carrier’s CEO during CES last week. According to the T-Mobile CEO, the T-Mobile iPhone 5 release date has been fast tracked.

T-Mobile iPhone 5 release date before summer, no subsidies

The CEO said that instead of coming in 6 to 9 months, the T-Mobile iPhone 5 would be available in the next 3 to 4 months, hence making it to stores before the summer. Simultaneously, the carrier is also ending its subsidies. So while T-Mobile will become the last of the top 4 US carriers to get on the Apple bandwagon, it will be the only one that wont’ be offering any subsidies for it.

With T-Mobile does supporting over 1.9 million Apple iPhones at the moment and monthly activations coming in at the 100k mark, T-Mobile is confident that the ceasing of subsidies won’t affect the sales of a T-Mobile iPhone. They would draw in iPhone fans with lower monthly fees and expected the amount of subscribers to increase by around 5% or higher.

With T-Mobile no longer locking in users with a two-year contract in exchange for subsidy, the iPhone brand should work well on the carrier given Apple’s annual release cycle and the high resale value of iPhones.
