The Google Nexus 6 Isn’t Going To Be Around Much Longer

By  |

Recently it was said that the Nexus 6 was said not be getting updated any longer and this meant that it wasn’t going to get Android 7.1.1 Nougat. However, we have now heard that this isn’t the case.

On the blog of Google it was said that the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 5X and the 6P would all be getting the update to Nougat. This means that the phablet is going to be around for a while longer.

On the downside is the fact that the Nexus 6 isnt going to be given any updates past Android 7.0 Nougat. When it has been given the incremental maintenance releases of version 7.0 we will be saying a fond farewell to the handset regarding backups.

Of course the Nexus 6 isnt going to be killed off altogether as it will still get security updates for another year. When it gets past this we don’t know what will happen to the device and updates are going to be down to the developers.

Android Nougat will give the Nexus 6 a boost and the device is going to be around for another year at least and perhaps longer if the developers work on custom ROMs.
