Sprint Inadvertently Lets iPhone 5 Out Of The Bag Via Early Promotion of Current Models?

The iPhone 5 is almost certainly coming very soon, possibly within the next 2 months which has carriers getting prepared. However one carrier who is getting ready for the iPhone 5 in a more obvious manner than others is Sprint.

Sprint iPhone 5

In the past before the launch of a new iPhone, carriers have dropped the price slightly of the current models. Sprint did just that and have lowered the price of their iPhone 4S by 25 percent. This means that you can get your hands on the iPhone 4S for $149 with a contract of two years.

Sprint was asked about the huge price drop and all they said was that it was a promotion that had the approval of Apple. Meanwhile, AT&T along with Verizon have not made such a bold statement.

Last year Sprint rumors were flying around of them installing network repeaters 3 weeks before the launch of the iPhone 4S. So with the iPhone 5 being rumored to be released in around one month, there is no surprise that prices for the iPhone 4S are being dropped as the carrier should know something from Cupertino by now.

At the moment the Apple September 12th event is rumored to be about the iPhone 5, but there has been no confirmation. Apple might also take advantage of this date to launch the iMac, Mac Pro and iPad Mini, along with iOS 6.

The closer we get to this date the lower the price of the iPhone 4S may be. Carriers such as Verizon and AT&T will slash their prices to compete with Sprint. Apple are expecting 250 million units of the iPhone 5 to be sold and this would put pressure on Apple to stagger the release of their products, but it will be interesting to see if they do.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
