Sony Xperia Z3 Plus, Z4 And Z5 To Join Marshmallow Party, Like Finally

By  |

Sony seems to be treating its babies affectionately by introducing the Marshmallow update to them, skipping the intended Lollipop update in the process. The Xperia Z3 Plus, Z4 and Z5 are next in line to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and this is going to happen as soon as March 7 kicks in. That should be exciting for you Sony users.

Though this may be good news for Xperia users, those who are still using the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact wouldn’t be able to get the same treatment. The company has mentioned that those two devices are far too old to be sweetened up with Marshmallow, but if they still wish to get it, they’d have to install a custom ROM first. But bear in mind that Marshmallow could take up a lot of space, so getting it on the two latter models wouldn’t be a good idea.

For the luckier ones who are able to get their devices updated to fit the current times, expect to have these new features to play with: Doze and App Standby. They are the ones responsible for extending battery life, and apart from that, you’ll also get security fixes and other improvements in the coming months. So there’s that to look forward to.

We hope you’ll enjoy your Xperia device once it gets updated to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
