Ahead of the LG Nexus 4 release last year, something called the Nexus Partner program came to light. According to rumors, this was program setup by Google to allow multiple manufacturers to release Nexus certified smartphones and tablets.

At that time, there were speculations that LG, Motorola and Sony were on board. Well we got to see the LG Nexus 4 shortly after and now there are talks of something called the Motorola X coming our way too. So that just leaves Sony out.

With the Sony Xperia Z unveiled at CES last week, rumors of a Google Nexus 5 from the Japanese company are lighting up again We saw the Xperia Z boast a 13MP camera, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2700mAh battery runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

On that note, if there was a Sony Google Nexus 5 it would likely be based on this device. The “5” could stand for a number of things to – it is the 5th gen Nexus 5, it has a 5-inch 1080p display and lastly that it would launch with the rumored Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
