Skyrim Dragonborn DLC review

Dragonborn, which happens to be the 3rd DLC for Skyrim, sees Solstheim updated to HD. We first came across the land in the game Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Blood Moon. Some people have said that it is like Greenland, with snow goblins and dragons.

When you start out in Solstheim you are attached by cultists and before killing them you learn about Miraak and Dragonborn. You find a note and this reveals that a captain in Windhelm will take you to Raven Rock. Here you find out about the Temple of Miraak and the fact that he is going back to Solstheim to take it over with All Maker stones. He will then kill the Dragonborn, which is you.

In the game you will have to undertake some quests that are repetitive and find the six All Maker stones. You will know that you have found the right place if you find plebs bashing a large rock and saying just how great Miraak is. Hit the stone with the Bend Shout and kill everything that comes from the rock and then move onto the next one.

You will find that breaking the rocks throughout the game is more difficult than the one before. Lurkers will show up and if you have come across mind flayers in Dungeons and Dragons, then you will know about the Lurkers. There are three variations of these and each is worse than the one before.

There are many quests to do in the game and one of these will bring you to settlements. Black Books have to be deciphered and these take you to Apocrypha, which will take you to Miraak. This is where you will find cathedrals up in the air, craggy outcrops and bridges that seem to be floating in the air. You can also learn new abilities thanks to the Black Books. You will have to find all the words to the Bend Will shout, this will allow you to take control over the dragons and man and ride the dragons. Miraak happens to be a very imposing foe, thanks to the horned mask that he wears. When you kill him you will feel great, however this is not an easy task to accomplish.

When undertaking some of the quests in Dragonborn you could be forgiven for thinking that you have been there and done it before. The game is large and so there is plenty of fun to enjoy. Even if you decide not to take on all the quests you will be playing the game for a long time.

Dragonborn is the best Skyrim DLC to date in our opionion and it is larger than Dawnguard and Hearthfire. The DLC will make going back to Skyrim something to look forward to and PS3 owners will be pleasantly suprised and happy that this was the first DLC released to them by Bethesdsa.
