Skoda Rapid Won’t Be Copying Golf Anymore?

By  |

The Skoda Rapid will be getting a next-gen model that will be coming in with a new name as well as a brand new design.

According to Skoda, the current Rapid Spaceback failed to have the impact they were hoping for but they think that the successor would make it further. Skoda added that the new Rapid should sell at least twice as many units as the first full year of sales than the outgoing model.

One of the reasons why people think the Rapid could not make a mark was because it looked very similar to the Golf and at the end of the day, the Golf will always win that fight. Hopefully, with the new design, Skoda would be able to show the consumers that Rapid is worth considering as well.

The new Skoda Rapid will be riding on the MQB AO platform and will most likely be fitted with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that will be offering between 84hp and 109hp. There might be the 1.5 liters and 1.6-liter diesel engine.
