Sienna And Pacifica Bring Shame To 2017 Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey was once known to be a pioneering and innovative brand among the minivan segment. However that was way back when and things have changed since then. It is still a household name but it hasn’t been able to live up to the standards.

At the end of 2016 the minivan segment ended on a rather positive note as it did enjoy growth that was positive all year. It looks as though the big demand for trucks and crossovers has spilled over into that segment.

The Honda Odyssey failed to get to the front of the growth though and it has had to take something of a back seat to the Chrysler Pacifica. This is the vehicle that has taken over the place of the Dodge Town & Country.

The sales figures of the Honda Odyssey were 110, 435 during November and this was down by 4.7% in comparison to the same period during 2015. This data came from Good Car Bad Car.

Even with the decline of 6.8% the sales of the Toyota Sienna managed to outsell the Honda Odyssey as it managed to achieve 116, 622 sales during the year.

The leaders in the small segment was the FCA with the Dodge Grand Caravan as it managed to get 120, 991 sales and enjoy a growth of 34.7% in 2015.

The sales of the Chrysler Town & Country and the Chrysler Pacifica were 110, 888 and this means that the Odyssey is low down among the pecking order for minivans. Let’s hope that the 2018 Honda Odyssey offers up something very special when it arrives.
