Samsung Galaxy S6 Dying To Get Hold Of Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are used to having to wait to get hold of updates but there is an alternative for people who are sick and tired of waiting. They can install a custom ROM.

If you have the Samsung Galaxy S6 G920F you can update your handset to Lineage OS Android 7.1.1 Nougat ROM. This means you don’t have to wait for Samsung to finally send out an update for your handset.

You can follow the steps below to update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and get your hands on all that Nougat offers early. Before you update you should check your handset to ensure that USB debugging has been enabled and this is in Settings – Development Options – USB debugging.

You will also need to have rooted the handset, so it should be unlocked and you need to have installed CWM or TWRP and have 60% battery at least. Now you can go ahead and install the custom firmware.

First you need to download LineageOS firmware for your Samsung Galaxy S6 along with Google Apps and save it.

Attach your device to the computer and move the zip file to the SDcard of your handset and then switch the phone off and disconnect it.

Boot into recovery by holding the power, home and volume up button and then go to the recovery menu and choose wipe data/factory reset.

Choose install zip from SDcard and zip from SDcard and find the custom ROM and then confirm that you want to flash it.

Go back to the main menu and reboot and then you will have Android 7.1.1 Nougat on your Samsung Galaxy S6.
