Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC M7: February Lovebirds

2013 is looking good thanks to the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC M7 with 1080p display rumors all pointing towards a February launch.

HTC M7 joins Samsung Galaxy S4 February launch rumors

According to PocketNow, just a couple of weeks ago rumours started making the rounds about the HTC M7. This was said to be a 1080p display device that would be coming out in 2013. The HTC M7 did sound a great deal like HTC Droid DNA, other than it had a camera with a higher resolution. Everyone began to wonder if the HTC M7 might have something else to set it apart from the Droid DNA, and today we have the answer.

A leak has given confirmation about the claim that the HTC M7 will come with a camera of 13 megapixels with f/2.0 aperture. There is also a rumour of it having a 1.7GHz Snapdragon quad core processor, instead of the 1.5GHz found on the HTC Droid DNA. A very interesting thing is the fact that the HTC M7 is to have the 1080p resolution, while at the same time only being 4.7 inches.

We have heard chatter of 1080p displays on upcoming devices; however these have been 5 inches, similar to the display of the Droid DNA (e.g. Sony Yuga & Samsung Galaxy S4). The HTC Droid DNA has 440ppi, however if the display on the HTC M7 is 4.7 inches, this would make the resolution 468ppi. Of course don’t expect there to be much difference in image quality. However it is interesting to learn that it’s possible to have a 1080p display, without having to have a larger handset.

Coincidentally, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is also rumored to be launching in February. It too will supposedly sport a 1080p display but in a 5-inch form factor. Quad-core processors and 13MP cameras are also in order if you believe the rumors. So it looks like February 2013 may be shaping up to be the battleground for a flagship showdown. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
