HTC’s Galaxy S4 Killer 6 Times More Powerful Than Droid DNA?

Earlier last month, we reported on the leaked specs of an upcoming Android dubbed the HTC M7. As the folks over at ZTechNews pointed out, the DROID DNA is believed to come with a Tegra 4 processor.

HTC M7 may be 6X more powerful than DROID DNA, challenge Samsung Galaxy S4

While the HTC M7 has been dubbed as major rival to the Samsung Galaxy S4 given its top end specs and that both devices are rumored to be launching in February next year, we really didn’t know much about the Tegra 4 processor in the HTC M7 and how it compared to the Tegra 3 found in the current HTC DROID DNA. Well now we do.

BGR reports that there is a race between the NVIDIA Tegra system on chip, otherwise known as SoC, and the QCOM Snapdragon processors from Qualcomm and that race is heating up. NVIDIA are getting ready to make the announcement of the Tegra 4, with the code name, Wayne. This will bring big improvements over the Tegra 3 chip that is currently on the market.

A slide has been leaked from NVIDIA which suggests that the Tegra 4 will come with the “4-Plus-1 Quad Core Eagle” processor, with 720 GPU. This would be 6 times as powerful as the Tegra 3 found in the HTC DROID DNA. It would have DD3L memory support, a ppi of 2560 x 1600 and it would support VP8 acceleration, along with  H.264HP, 28 nanometer process, which would ensure lower power consumption along with support for USB 3.

If the HTC M7 does in fact boast a Tegra 4 chipset, not only will it blow the HTC DROID DNA out of the water but it would give the rumored new quad-core Exynos chip in the Samsung Galaxy S4 a run for its money.

With February now just over a month away, we will soon find out.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
