Samsung Galaxy S3 Or Note? Which Is The Smarter Option

By  |

Thanks to the fast chip and the stunning Super AMOLED screen, the Samsung Galaxy S3 happens to be one of the most wanted devices so far in 2012. For those who love a large screen the only device to beat the Galaxy S3 is the Galaxy Note with its 5.3 inches at this time. So which of these two Galaxy phones is a better buy?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note

While the display of the Note is larger than that of the Samsung Galaxy S3, it does have fewer pixels per inch. The Note is the higher end device when it comes to looks in our opinion as the glossy finish of the S3 doesn’t sit too well among premium products. However with a larger display it also means that you may find the Galaxy Note more awkward to operate, especially single-handedly.

In regards to the processor the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out on top as it has the dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon and 2GB of RAM in the US. However the international version has 1GB of RAM and a quad core. You can choose 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory and you can add on another 64GB by SD card. The Samsung Galaxy Note is offered in 16GB or 32GB versions and has SD support for another 32GB. This means that thanks to more storage and the newer chip the S3 comes out the winner here.

Both have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support along with LTE and the Samsung Galaxy S3 also comes with support for NFC, S Beam and support for charging wirelessly.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has ICS and TouchWiz interface which gives features including Smart Stay and S Voice. The Note has Android 2.3 but the update for ICS has arrived for most units out there already. Both are expected to get the bump up to Jelly Bean too.

The Samsung Galaxy Note has the stylus app and this is great to use but the S3 comes packed with apps which can be used more frequently in everyday life (S-apps range).

The camera on the S3 is 8 megapixels and features zero shutter and burst mode and the sensor is the same one as seen on the iPhone 4S. The Note also has an 8 megapixel camera but it does have shutter lag. The batter on the S3 is 2100mAh which falls behind that of the Note at 2500mAh.

All in all the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out on top as being the best buy out of the two devices thanks to better hardware, slimmer design for better pocketability and software add-ons. The Note does come with the larger display and it also has the stylus, but the Note 2 will be coming out very soon so it makes sense for anyone considering a phablet to wait for the newer version. So in the Note vs S3 battle, the S3 is the clear winner.
