Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 vs One X: More Than Meets The Eye

There are many great devices on the market at the moment. However if you prime concern is using the handset to take video and photos then you may want to consider the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3 or the iPhone 5. All three devices have excellent cameras that produce pictures and video that are pure eye candy. But which one is the best?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 vs HTC One X camera test

Gforgames recently decided to evaluate these three great devices to find out which phone came with the best camera sensor. Their results clearly showed which device had superiority.

When it came to degradation of the background it was the HTC One X that stood out like a sore thumb, as the handset seems to over sharpen. On the other hand the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were both outstanding.

In comparison of colour the iPhone 5 managed to deal with a wider range of scenarios. The device gave photos which looked more natural. The Samsung Galaxy S3 followed on and gave us results that were very similar to those of the iPhone 5, and the HTC One X photos were overly warm and there was a yellowish hue to the photos sometimes.

The iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are roughly the same when it comes to exposure and the HTC One X had under exposed photos, which gave us images that seemed darker.

The iPhone 5 even took the crown in the dynamic range, with photos that were superb, even in differing light conditions. The HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 came in around the same; however the flash on the S3 was the best, although only slightly.

Video wise the iPhone 5 was the best when it came to HD video recording and the videos had detail that looked sharp and colours remained natural looking. The Samsung Galaxy S3 did a great job and the wind noise was kept to a minimum. However the HTC One X didn’t fare as well when it came to details and low light recording.

The conclusion was the camera of the iPhone 5 was the best of the bunch, and as a bonus it was fast. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X however didn’t lag too far behind and they came with additional controls, including burst mode.

Now the only thing missing here is the Nokia Lumia 920 which is apparently the best of the bunch. We can’t wait till it hits the market and these tests are conducted again with the Windows Phone 8 handset included.
