iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Suprising Battery Results

Ask anyone to name the two best smartphones out there right now, and you’ll almost certainly hear about the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. There are so many comparisons, but this one focuses on the battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 battery life test

A major concern with the iPhone 5 was the battery, as this line is not known for its hefty powerpacks. The iPhone 5’s battery is the most powerful so far, at 1,430mAh, but it’s still non-removable. The Galaxy S3’s battery is removable, and is also 2,100mAh.

Apple said that this latest battery was its best, and it seems it’s true. The iPhones 5 and 4S were tested for Wi-Fi browsing, and the 5 (on Verizon) lasted for seven hours 13 minutes while a Sprint iPhone 4S managed just six hours and 55 mins. The iPhone 5 actually lasted for longer than the Galaxy S3, too. The only phone to beat it was the Droid RAZR MAXX on eight hours and 25 minutes.

This is despite the specs sheets saying the Samsung Galaxy S3 would give 15 hours of life and the iPhone 5 just eight hours. Real world tests put these two giants neck and neck.
