Samsung Galaxy S3 vs One X: HTC Has Its Advantages

By  |

There is very little doubt over the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the best-selling handsets on the market from the Android stable. On the other hand there is another Android device that should not be forgotten, the HTC One X. The One X is still a great choice and does manage to stand up to Android’s poster child the S3 in many ways.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X

Speed: Both of the handsets come with Android 4.0 ICS and the US HTC One X is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor just like the US Samsung Galaxy S3. It falls short however when it comes to RAM as it has 1GB versus 2GB on the S3. Winner: Samsung Galaxy S3.

Camera: The devices have cameras of 8 megapixels and these are able to record video at 1080p. They come with features which include autofocus and LED flash. While Samsung didn’t really brag about their camera, HTC did boast an array of built-in filters as well as a custom image processing chip which makes the pictures more vibrant than its rivals. Winner: Draw

Display: Both smartphones boast large HD displays. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is equipped with a Super AMOLED 4.8-inch screen while the HTC One X carries a 4.7-inch IPS. The differences are far from subtle. The Samsung Galaxy S3 shows more vibrant colors and deeper blacks. However the HTC One X gives a more realistic color, it’s max brightness setting is much higher than the S3, and it also is more comfortable to read in direct sunlight (outdoors). Winner: HTC One X

Design: The HTC One X design is certainly better looking than the glossy plastic Samsung Galaxy S3. It looks to be a higher end device when compared to the S3 and dare we say it the best looking Android smartphone available on the market right now. Winner: HTC One X.

Both of the devices come with specs that are top of the range, but if you look at them side by side, the HTC One X has both the hardware and the looks. However it does fall short of the S3 in other areas, these include a battery that cannot be removed and lack of SD card. If these two features are not important to you then you can be seduced by the better looks of the HTC One X.
