Samsung Galaxy S3 Owners Should Worry About Marshmallow, Android 5.0 Lollipop Tastes Sweet

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a handset that is getting on in age and so it will not be getting updates any longer. Of course it means that officially it isn’t going to be given the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Owners don’t have to worry too much though as Android 6.0 Lollipop tastes just as sweet.

There are some things that you can take into account before you install Android 5.0 Lollipop, and these will help to ensure that things go right during the install.

One thing that you do need to do is back-up the Samsung Galaxy S3 and this can be done with the NANDROID app. Before installing the update you will also have to make sure that you installed root access and custom recovery.

Once you have done this you can then follow the steps below to install Android 5.0 Lollipop onto your Samsung Galaxy S3 by following the steps which are outlined below.

– Download the custom ROM file for Android 5.0 Lollipop, one for your phone and one for your desktop.
– Get the arter 97 kernel as well and unzip it.
– Plug in your S3 to your PC via USB cable.
– Remember the Nandroid backup file. Put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
– Disconnect your S3 from the PC and turn it off.
– Go into recovery mode on for your phone.
– Then select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
– Select Backup and Restore option, then choose to restore backup so that the Android 5.0 Lollipop gets installed.
– Flash the arter 97 kernel by selecting “install zip from SD card” and proceed to “choose zip from SD card”.

If everything goes to plan you will now have Android 5.0 Lollipop installed on your Samsung Galaxy S3.
