Samsung Galaxy S3 Owners Should Forget Marshmallow, Go With Sweetness of Android 5.0 Lollipop

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is one device that has been on the market for a while now and now it is classed as being an old device. What this means is that it isn’t going to be treated to anymore updates officially. So owners shouldn’t expect to see Android 6.0 Marshmallow make its way onto the device. However they shouldn’t worry too much as developers are offering an update that will take the handset to Android 5.0 Lollipop and this tastes sweet enough.

Don’t rush headlong into installing Android 5.0 Lollipop onto your Samsung Galaxy S3 before reading the following information.

The first thing that you will need to do is to back-up your device and you can do this with NANDROID. You also need to make sure that custom recovery is installed and make sure that you have root access on the device.

Once you have done this you will then be able to put Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Samsung Galaxy S3 by checking out the steps you can find below.

– Download the custom ROM file for Android 5.0 Lollipop, one for your phone and one for your desktop.
– Get the arter 97 kernel as well and unzip it.
– Plug in your S3 to your PC via USB cable.
– Remember the Nandroid backup file. Put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
– Disconnect your S3 from the PC and turn it off.
– Go into recovery mode on for your phone.
– Then select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
– Select Backup and Restore option, then choose to restore backup so that the Android 5.0 Lollipop gets installed.
– Flash the arter 97 kernel by selecting “install zip from SD card” and proceed to “choose zip from SD card”.

If everything has gone as it should have you should now have Android 5.0 Lollipop running on your Samsung Galaxy S3.
