Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Update For US In November Only?

Samsung Galaxy S3 owners in the US are still waiting for the Jelly Bean update. It was announced in July for August, but it’s now mid-October and people are getting impatient.

Samsung has also promised September. The month expired with the same old Facebook status promising S3 owners on all networks the update.

The more impatient among them installed leaked custom ROMs onto their phones and started using JB. We recommended to hang on a bit longer and wait for a safer OTA update, which wouldn’t be long. Still, US customers are wondering how soon is “coming soon”.

Jelly Bean has hit Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets outside the US, like in Hong Kong, Poland, Taiwan and Korea. The UK and Germany are at the updating stage – still waiting for approval. Sadly, other areas, like the US, are still “pending”.

YouMobile has suggested that AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular customers in the US will get the update in November. There is still no notice about Verizon customers but January is way too long in my books.

The updating process in the US is very different, and there have been delays with updates before. Once Google sends the update out, the carriers have to get it ready and approved for their phones. Once this is done, it can go out with bloatware. So, the delay may be the carriers’ fault, but Samsung is taking all the flak. All we can do is sit tight and wait.
