By  |

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is classed as being an old handset now and this means there isn’t going to be the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, if you are the owner of the device you really should not worry as you can get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update from developers.

There are some things that you should bear in mind before installing Android 5.0 Lollipop onto the Samsung Galaxy S3.

First you should make a backup of the device and to do this you can use NANDROID. You also need to make sure that you have custom recovery along with having root access.

Once you have done this you can go ahead and install Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy S3 by checking the steps below.

– Download the custom ROM file for Android 5.0 Lollipop, one for your phone and one for your desktop.
– Get the arter 97 kernel as well and unzip it.
– Plug in your S3 to your PC via USB cable.
– Remember the Nandroid backup file. Put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
– Disconnect your S3 from the PC and turn it off.
– Go into recovery mode on for your phone.
– Then select “wipe data factory reset”, “wipe cache partition” and “wipe dalvick cache”.
– Select Backup and Restore option, then choose to restore backup so that the Android 5.0 Lollipop gets installed.
– Flash the arter 97 kernel by selecting “install zip from SD card” and proceed to “choose zip from SD card”.

If all has gone to plan you will now have Android 5.0 Lollipop installed on the Samsung Galaxy S3.
