Official Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.1 Update Now Available Unofficially

Everyone knows that LG are lazy when it comes to handing out updates to their firmware. Samsung of course do a much better job and they are now updating their device regularly. At the moment owners of devices are waiting to get their hands on the final of Jelly Bean, which is 4.2.

The guys over as SamMobile have said that the update will not be out for another month. However they have got the pre-release build of Android 4.2.1 ROM and you can download from them.

Anyone who cannot wait for the update can get their hands on it. Odin has also provided instructions for flashing. The software does not come with firmware for the modem, however the old one can be used.

Android 4.2.1 brings with it many improvements. Those who have installed the ROM on their Samsung Galaxy S3 have said that they have a new notifications system. This means that the notifications are more actionable. The ripple effect has been enhanced on the lockscreen, there is a new lockscreen, new widgets, Daydream and Voice commands. This is to use your voice to perform tasks.

Photo Sphere has not been mentioned and this is very interesting. It looks as though Samsung plan to use the Samsung Orb features. It may also be that Sam Mobile just missed the feature when printing the list of features of the OS.

So while you can get your hands on the update, for the time being it still isn’t being rolled out via the official channels.
