Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Update Confirmed

We recently asked our readers if they were happy with the way carriers were getting out updates to their devices, specifically Jelly Bean 4.1 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

There have been delays with Jelly Bean and this could have taken some of the shine off the Samsung Galaxy S3 for its owners here in the US. Right now most of the carriers in the US have managed to get the update out however Verizon for example only did so last week after users in other nations saw it over a month ago.

While carriers have got the Jelly Bean 4.1 update out, now owners of the S3 are left waiting for Android 4.2.

Samsung have taken a look at their devices and the update is in the pipeline. So some of the existing devices will get updated to Android 4.2, and one of these is the Samsung Galaxy S3, which is their current flagship device, and now been confirmed by Samsung themselves.

Of course Samsung are known to be slow when it comes to getting updates out. Therefore owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 could have to wait some time for the latest update to come their way. The delays with updates are not always the fault of Samsung, often it is the carriers.

Android 4.2 will bring numerous improvements, two being Photo Sphere and Gesture Typing, along with many other tweaks. Samsung have taken a look at their portfolio for Android 4.2 and it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is on top, along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. At the moment it is not known if the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the original Samsung Galaxy Note will be updated to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.
