Before Samsung released the Galaxy S3, the S2 was on the market and setting records for sales as it was the best Android handset at that time.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update confirmed

If you still have a Samsung Galaxy S2 then there is some good news as Samsung Korea has given out upgrade details for ICS to Jelly Bean 4.1. Samsung have said that Project Butter is to be included in the update, along with Google Apps, however they have not said whether it will include Google Now, which of course is a large part of the 4.1 Android update.

SamMobile said that update to Jelly Bean will repartition the memory of the device during updating, which could take as long as an hour. The update will be through Kies, with no plans of it being available OTA. So if you have stuck with the older Samsung Galaxy S2 handset, this is good news for you.

It was also late last year that the Korean giant confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S3 would get the bump up to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean some point in 2013.
