Samsung Galaxy Note II: You Bet It’s Coming!

By  |

While the success enjoyed by the Samsung Galaxy S2 came as no surprise, the same cannot be said about the Samsung Galaxy Note. Originally criticized by tech pundits due to its massive size and reintroduction of the stylus which were popular during the days of PDAs, it went on to prove the media wrong by selling in droves.

Samsung Galaxy Note II rumors

Earlier this year, Samsung reported having sold 5 million Galaxy Note units in under 5 months. This added with speculations that AT&T’s exclusivity on the ‘phablet’ is now almost over, the Samsung Galaxy Note will likely continue to gain popularity as it hits other carriers like T-Mobile and even Verizon (Galaxy Journal?).

So it comes as no shocker that Samsung will launch a Galaxy Note 2 just like how they have done with their successful Galaxy model the S2 to S3. The good news is that after the official preview of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the groundwork for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has already been laid. The Samsung Galaxy S and S2 dictated the hardware we saw on other Galaxy devices at its time (Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note) so the Note 2 will more than likely many components from the Galaxy S3.

Now if you’re late to the party then here is a recap of the Samsung Galaxy S3 specs: 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, 1GB RAM, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz tweaks, 8-megapixel rear camera, and wireless charging. So we wouldn’t be surprised if the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 gets a quad-core processor, wireless charging capabilities and the TouchWiz UI with all those software tweaks (Smart Alert, S Voice, BuddyShare, etc). This coupled with what the Samsung Galaxy Note is loved for (massive display and S-Pen) and we will likely have another hot seller.

Of course, these are all speculations at this time and even if I was ready to put my money down and bet that there is a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 coming, there is no way of knowing when. The current Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launched a couple of months after the Galaxy S2 so if we had to guess, it may land sometime before the holidays if the Galaxy S3 does in fact launch sometime this summer.

Anyone else interested in a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or are you already smitten by the brewing battle between the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Motorola DROID RAZR HD, all boasting screen sizes larger than their predecessors? Sound off in the comments below.
