Galaxy Note 2 vs Nokia Lumia 920: Big vs Just Fat

Samsung have their hopes pinned on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 being able to continue from where the Samsung Galaxy S3 stopped. However Nokia are back in the game with the Nokia Lumia 920 and they hope it will bring them to the top of the market.

Nokia have come into the smartphone race very late and for them this has been a mistake that has been very costly. This is their last ditch attempt at getting back into the smartphone market. So how do the two handsets compare?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is 151.1×80.5×9.4mm and weighs 180 grams, while the Nokia Lumia 920 is 185 grams and comes in at 185 grams, with measurements of 130.3×70.8×10.7mm.

You can get the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in three colours, these being pebble blue, marble white and titanium grey. The handset has looks that are sleek, however it has been said that the plastic looks cheap. It is easy to use and it comes with an S Pen, plus it has a display in HD.

You can get the Nokia Lumia 920 in colours that are bright, but they tend to look fragile, despite this the handset is tough.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a sleek looking body, but you can’t get away from the fact that the solid body of the Nokia Lumia 920 is what stands out.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen which offers 267ppi and resolution of 1280 x 720p. The screen has been protected with Gorilla Glass.

The Nokia Lumia 920 has an HD+ PureMotion display which is LCD and is 4.5 inches and this offers 332 ppi and resolution of 1280 x 768. The display uses ClearBlack technology which helps to provide a boost and ensures that contrast is rich, while at the same time helps to reduce glare, which makes it easy to read the display in the sun. PureMotion HD+ also gives a picture that is HD quality. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 does have the larger display, however it is the Nokia Lumia 920 that wins as it has the ppi that is higher, better touch responsiveness and colours that are more vibrant.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the winner for storage as it comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64Gb of storage and you can expand this with SD card, plus it has 2GB of RAM.

The Nokia Lumia 920 storage isn’t as good and there is just 32GB and 1Gb of RAM, there is also no SD card support.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a quad core processor which is the Exynos 1.6GHz, which is the most powerful and this is superb for multi-tasking.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has Jelly Bean and all the features it brings and it does happen to be the best to date. Project Butter makes sure that apps are able to run very smoothly.

The Nokia Lumia 920 works on Windows Phone 8 and this brings live tiles to the handset. The device is great for networking but it doesn’t match Android for popularity.

The Nokia Lumia 920 has the 8.7 megapixel camera on the back which records video at 1080p. It also has a 1.9 camera on the front and these support LED flashes, auto focus, touch focus, face detection and smile detection along with geo-tagging.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is an advancement over the first device while the Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a better camera and display. The screen is HD quality and better and it blows the display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 away. On saying this the winner is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as it did get more points.
