Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs HTC J Butterfly: Note Still Wins

By  |

The HTC J Butterfly is coming our way soon with its 5 inch display if rumors of a Verizon HTC DROID Incredible X 5 are true. So how does the device compare to the best phablet on the market, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Let’s find out.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs HTC J Butterfly (DROID Incredible X 5)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has the larger display at 5.5 inches, but it is the Butterfly that has the best quality 5 inch display. This is the Super LCD3 that comes with 440ppi full HD. The Note 2 on the other hand has the Super AMOLED display of 267ppi, which is not full HD. With this in mind the HTC is the winner.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has the Exynos quad core processor at 1.6Ghz and the HTC Butterfly comes with the Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad core. Both of the processors are very fast and this shows that when it comes to speeds both devices will have various speed tests that show each of them as the winner. They both have 2GB of RAM and so this has to be called a tie.

On the storage side the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 boasts 16, 32 and in the future a 64GB model with expandable storage. The HTC Butterfly is currently only listed as coming in 16GB but does have support for SD card. So storage wise the Note 2 wins.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 wins in the battery department thanks to it having the 3100mAh battery and the Butterfly a 2020mAh battery. However only time will tell just how well the battery does and the butterfly may use less power thanks to the LCD3 display and low nano meter processor. Until then though the Note takes the crown.

Both of the devices have the 8 megapixel cameras, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and come preloaded with Android 4.0 Jelly Bean.

When it comes to extra features, the HTC J Butterfly boasts a waterproof body and Beats Audio, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has the S-Pen and the multi-windows feature which should be a norm for all phablets given their extra real estate.

Both of the handsets are superb and it really comes down to a matter of personal choice. If you want a stylus and larger display then the Samsung Note 2 will win. On the other hand if you want a sharper HD display and improved sound quality then the HTC J Butterfly will be the best choice. In this particular comparison the Note 2 takes the cake by winning 2 categories (battery and storage), while the Butterfly has 1 category (better display) and the rest of the features a tie.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
