The update works with all of the Apple devices on iOS 6 right now and it is available from Apple’s portal. The update will work with the Apple iPhone, the Apple iPad and iPod Touch. If you want the beta you can get the update if you head into Settings>General>Software updates.

The update is 56.5MB however the download is 896MB in total, along with this Apple have also released beta 3 for their Apple TV, which happens to come with the Xcode Developer Preview.

The iOS 6.1 jailbreak is called Redsn0w 0.9.15b3, however you may wish to consider the fact that this is a tethered jailbreak and also it won’t work on devices that have the A5 processor. So it will only work on the following: Apple iPhone 3GS, the Apple iPhone 4, 4th gen iPod Touch, as all of these have the Limera1n exploit. If you have the Apple iPhone 5, the Apple iPhone 4S, Apple iPad 2,3 or 4, or the 5th gen Apple iPod Touch, or Apple iPad Mini, then it will not work.

If you have a device that it works on and you want to go ahead and try your hand at jailbreaking here is how you do it. Bear in mind this is for developers only.

Download and install beta 4 onto your device and make sure that your computer has iOS 6 on it or download it with 0.9.15b3.

Connect your device with your computer and then make sure that the device is in DFU mode. Then open 0.9.15b3 and the computer should pick up the device. Click on Extras > IPSW> head to the iOS 6 firmware file. Redsn0w should then be able to see the firmware.

Go to the main page of Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 and pick Jailbreak. Wait for the whole process to complete and make sure that a check mark is against Cydia. Click on next and the process of jailbreaking the device will go through. When it is completed you should find yourself on the Lock Screen. Put your device back into DFU mode.

Back on the main page of Redsn0w go to Extras> IPSW> iOS firmware and Redsn0w will see your firmware. Click on Boot Tethered and then just wait. When the device boots you should see a pineapple logo.

When the jailbreak has been completed you are taken back to the Lock screen. Unlock the device and make your way to the second page where you should find the Cydia icon. Open Cydia and go through setting it up and configuring it.

Your iOS 6 device will now be jailbroken.
