Opel Insignia, Zafira & Cascada In Hot Waters In Germany

By  |

The transport ministry in Germany has requested that Opel recalled three of their models after it was discovered that these vehicles might have been fitted with an illegal defeat device.

According to the reports, the Opel Cascade, Insignia and Zafira from Europe will be recalled after authorities raided the Opel’s headquarters in Germany out of suspicion that some of the models were fitted with software that can manipulate emissions.

The recall will affect about 100,000 units of vehicles. This could be the worst time for Opel to get slap with this recall as Opel has just recorded their first profit in 20 years a few months ago.

Although Opel has admitted that its vehicles did use engine control units that are programmed to shut off at a certain temperature, they also added that the practice is fully compliant with the law but that might not be the case since KNA found the software device to be illegal.
