By  |

General Motors are still trying to get bring back and fix their models that will be affected by the ignition switch issue but it looks like GM is not the only one that has to deal with the issue as Nissan also had to make a similar recall.

However, unlike the GM recall which affected millions of vehicles, the Nissan recall will affect about 166,000 units here in North America. Models that will be affected by the recall will include the 2017 – 2018 Nissan Juke, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Sentra, Nissan Versa, Nissan Versa Note, Nissan NV, Nissan NV200 and taxicab models. Models like the 2017 – 2018 Nissan Frontier, Nissan Micra, Nissan Versa Note, Sentra, NV200, NV1500, NV2500, and NV3500 will also be affected in Canada.

According to the report, the issue is with the spring in the mechanical key ignition system which can cause the key to go from On to Acc when driving. This will shut off the engine and also the power to the airbag system.

Nissan will inspect the ignition switch has been affected and replace them while necessary but while we wait for the recall, Nissan is advising their customer to not have any keychain or keys from the key.
