Nintendo Switch: Didn’t Take Long To Break Records

By  |

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Nintendo Switch before it came out and it seems that the console has lived up to the hype as the American president of Nintendo said that the Switch has outsold all consoles that came before it, so it hasn’t taken it long to break records.

The news that the Nintendo Switch has outsold previous consoles is based on the sales of the first weekend of the consoles release. The news came via a Tweet but it hasn’t been said how many consoles have been sold in the US. Other countries have also reported that sales have done well and in the UK it was said that Nintendo sold more than 80,000 units on the first weekend of it going on sale.

When the Nintendo Wii was launched the console was said to be the highest selling when it sold 40,000 units during the first weekend of it going on sale. The Tweet from Nick Wingfield said that the Friday and Saturday sales of the Nintendo Switch exceeded the two day sales in the US for any console launched by Nintendo.

While Nintendo made sure that there was a large number of games available for the Nintendo Switch, one of the biggest has been Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While sales of the console may have started off strong, we will have to wait to find out if it can continue with the market run.

The Nintendo Switch is available for $299.99 and Nintendo offers plenty of accessories for it.
