Demands for crossover and SUV does not seem to be slowing down and automakers are still trying to adjust their lineup to meet that demand. We already know that Ford will be taking out some of their sedan models but for Mitsubishi, it will be to turn the Mirage into a crossover.

According to Response, the next-gen Mitsubishi Mirage will come in to replace the current version next year and the successor will be an entirely new model that will not only grow in size to become a subcompact crossover.

The new Mitsubishi Mirage will be coming in to sit under the Eclipse Cross and it will be competing with models like the Hyundai Kona and Peugeot 2008. Powering it is a 0.9-liter turbocharged petrol engine that will be offering about 94hp. There might also be a diesel engine option as well.

Besides changing the Mirage to a crossover, there was also speculation that Mitsubishi might be looking to release another supermini to compete with the Suzuki Swift.
