If Motorola X Is Superman, Then Google Nexus 5 Is Clark Kent [PREDICTION]

By  |

The Motorola X rumors have it shaping up to be a top-end smartphone. This means that it will be in competition with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4, the current champ the Samsung Galaxy S3 and also the rumored Google Nexus 5 because of the whole Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie angle. The last handset could be the largest threat of the Motorola X as it is thought that they will be revealed at the same time…

At the moment we don’t know what specs will be on the Google X Phone. However Phone Arena have said that it could have a display made of Sapphire Glass and it could be 4.8 inches full HD. It may have a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of 2GHz, a battery of 4000mAh and it could come with the same waterproof protection of the Sony Xperia Z.

There are rumours that the Motorola X Phone may be customisable. This would help to keep costs down for those who don’t want a top featured handset, yet who still want a device with the Motorola-Google branding.

So the Motorola X Phone may take some of the limelight off the Samsung Galaxy S4, and it could be a big threat to the whole of the Galaxy range. However Google will be raring to market a new Nexus handset to follow on the LG Nexus 4 too. After all, it is its current bread and butter.

Who will make the device is unknown at the moment, we also don’t know if the handset will be called the Nexus 5, but it is assumed so. The LG Nexus 4 was a huge success and so Google will want to follow this up without a doubt.

However today’s developments is what is quite strange. Rumors are now pointing to the Motorola X release date being set for November, which is the same time we expect the Google Nexus 5 (the Nexus 4 went on sale in November too). So what’s so strange exactly? Read on.

We’ve been following both the Motorola X and Google Nexus 5 rumors for some time now and they appear to be converging. First there were talks that the Motorola X would feature a stock Android build, just like Nexus. Then speculations broke out that it would launch with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie first, just like what would be expected of a Nexus. Then there was a big one about the Motorola X being available through the Google Play Store. To date only Nexus branded hardware is available through the Play Store. So this last rumor about both devices sharing the same release date has us thinking that the Motorola X and Google Nexus 5 may be one and the same i.e. Motorola may be given the honors of making this year’s Nexus device.

What do you think folks?
