Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Joins Marshmallow Party

By  |

If you’ve been wondering when your Motorola Droid Turbo 2 (yes, the one that survived the drone drop test) could be updated to the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, wonder no more. That’s because now you’ll be able to do so, using a custom ROM of course.

You’ll be able to expect the new update to come with features like the Android Pay, fingerprint support, SELinux in ensuring better protection for all applications, and even a battery saver which could extend usage by up to 90 minutes (just to name a few).

However, there are some compulsory aspects that you’ve got to bear in mind before trying out the custom ROM: the usual backing-up-all-your-data process, have at least 80% battery power and ensure you have the USB Debugging is enabled on your device. Also worthy to note is that users can perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik if the device gets stuck on booting.

Here’s what you have to do to get your Motorola Droid Turbo 2 updated to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow:-

1. Download Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM for Motorola Droid Turbo from the links below:
(The ROM File size is big, therefore it’s been split into 3 parts courtesy of some kind stranger we found across the net)
ROM Part 1: Download this or
ROM Part 2: Download this or
ROM Part 3: Download this or
If you would like to combine all 3 parts of the files, put all of them into the same folder, double-click on ROM-Part1.rar, and voila, all the other parts will unpack and combine automatically.

2. Next, install the ROM Manager on your device. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. Or alternatively, you could also use the ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc. (also from Google Play Store)

3. Connect your Droid Turbo to your PC via the USB information cable. Then, copy the “” file you downloaded to the SD memory card.

4. Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. But as soon as the device is in Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup/restore to back-up your information.

5. Once it displays the Recovery Menu, do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache). When completed, go back to Recovery Principal Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Then, navigate the location in which you’ve copied the “” file, and follow the directions for installing Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your device.

6. When all the above steps have been completed, reboot your Motorola Droid Turbo device and you’ll be holding your device updated to the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

You’re very welcome.
