The Motorola DROID RAZR HD and the RAZR MAXX HD are coming soon – this Thursday in fact (October 18). Verizon announced it last week, but didn’t specify a pre-order date, or explain how customers could reserve one ahead of release.

Motorola DROID RAZR HD and MAXX HD now available for preorder at Costco

Well Costco, very helpfully, is letting people pre-order these phones now. If you’re after the Motorola DROID RAZR HD rather than the battery-ific MAXX HD, Costco will sort you out for a mere $189 with a two-year tie-in. You’ll also get a navigation dock and a battery charger totally for free!

Verizon is selling the same phone for $199 and isn’t throwing in any freebies. Boo! The Motorola DROID RAZR HD and MAXX HD of course are identical apart from the battery life. The extra battery life (MAXX HD boasts 21 hours talktime) will cost you around $100 more on contract.

If you need a refresher on the Motorola DROID RAZR HD specs, here it is: 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display, 8-megapixel rear camera, a front camera, 1GB RAM and it comes preloaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Jelly Bean is reportedly right around the corner.
