It does feel like all the automakers are rushing to dive headfirst into the EV pool with so many already announcing when they will be going full EV but for MINI, that will only be happening in the distant future.
While MINI is also working on some EV models of their own, the automaker has made it clear that they will continue to offer the conventional combustion engine for a few more years. In fact, they suggested that they will only be going full EV in 2030.
For now, we know that the next-gen electric Mini will come riding on a new platform and will built with the help of Great Wall. There is not a whole lot of details right now but it was reported that the Chinese government has already signed off on the joint plant and that production will start in 2022.
Hopefully, more details will be revealed soon.
