Microsoft Lumia 950 Takes On Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6S…Winner Is?

By  |

Microsoft launched the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the handset is taking on the iPhone 6S and the Samsung Galaxy S6. But which of these devices is the winner?

Before the Microsoft Lumia 950 launch Microsoft haven’t been all that good when it comes to competing with Samsung and Apple. However the new handset may be about to change that.

The display of the Microsoft Lumia 950 is 5.2 inches with the resolution being 2560 x 1440. The Samsung Galaxy S6 also has the same resolution but the display is 5.1 inches. The iPhone 6S offers the 4.7inch display, so it’s the smallest, it has 1334 x 750 resolution. The iPhone 6S has 3D Touch technology, but the winner has to be the Microsoft Lumia 950.

The device with the biggest battery is the Microsoft Lumia 950. The iPhone 6S offers a battery that is 1715mAh and this is lower than the one before. This means that once again the Microsoft Lumia 950 is ahead.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 has the USB Type C-Connector. The iPhone 6S has the Apple Lightning connector and the Samsung Galaxy S6 offers micro USB. There isn’t a clear winner here.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 offers 32GB storage but this may be boosted with SD card. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is also available in 32GB but it doesn’t have SD card support. The iPhone 6S begins with 16GB and again you cannot expand it with SD card. Yes you have guessed it, the winner here is the Microsoft Lumai 950.

The device with the most megapixels for the camera is the Microsoft Lumia 950 and it comes with OIS and this means photos in low light are great. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 16MP camera and the iPhone 6S a 12MP camera. All devices offer a camera of 5MP too.

You can get hold of the Microsoft Lumia 950 for $549 and this is $100 less than what you would pay for the Apple iPhone 6S. The Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB is $579.99. This means that the Microsoft Lumia 950 wins for price.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 has taken a lot of wins over the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6S, but would you buy the 950?

I love the look of the Lumia 950. However, the new Galaxy S7 does come with an SD Card Slot.

The bottom line is Windows phone will always in last place because of the lack of apps, and the Lumia 640 is my current phone. As my daughter says, “You can’t even Snapchat or get the latest new games Dad.” Hardware and camera is not enough to bring Android and IOS users to Windows phone.

Corey, I agree with you 100% and my family owns three (3) 950s. Snapchat flat out refuses to make an app for Windows Phone and kills any third party attempt. Of course, people on Windows Phones used to complain about not having Pandora, Instagram, Angry Birds, Candy Crush, and Skype. All of those are now available but there was a wait.
I like Windows Phone, not because of the latest games or because everyone else is getting one. I like the way it works.

Nice to see a review where the conclusion isn’t all about the apps. I love my 950, strong and sturdy, with great features, love the camera, wireless charging and expandable memory and offline maps.
