Microsoft Lumia 950 Review: Will It Be Just Another Horrible Windows 10 Device?

By  |

Microsoft is doing its best to try to get owners of Android and iOS to give up their devices and go with the Microsoft Lumia 950. But would the device have what is needed for it to be able to take on Android and iOS handsets and come out ahead?

The display of the Microsoft Lumia 950 is 5.2 inches and it comes with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. The device offers up 32GB storage and it runs on the Snapdragon 808 processor. It supports SD card for boosting the memory and it comes with 3GB of RAM.

While there are many things that work in the favour of the Microsoft Lumia 950 the handset does come with some things that are not so good. For instance it runs on Windows 10. One of the biggest downsides to the device is that it doesn’t offer apps like the Android and iOS handsets do.

So the biggest question is whether the Microsoft Lumia 950 is going to be just another horrible Windows 10 device or would you go for it?

I replaced my iPhone 5s with the Lumia. For me it was a great decision. It is simply a better phone with the same operating system I use in my professional life. Every “app” I would actually use is available and MS Office runs on my phone!

Hogwash, the 950 is a better phone than the iPhone. There is no shortage of apps. That’s the familiar comment you always make and it’s a phony one.

I’ve done like you, Jumbo, and replaced my iPhone 6 with the dual nano-SIM Lumia 950. Having both my home and work SIMs in one phone is convenient plus I only ever lose one phone now. LOL

I have this phone. It’s simply amazing. It fully charges in under an hour and lasts for 3 days! Screen resolution is twice the iPhone and watching 4k movies on it is breathtaking. You also forgot to mention the 20MP camera which takes outstanding quality photos. Also there is an app store which is the same as the windows app store offering 1000s of apps. I moved from iPhone and would never go back now that I’ve experienced windows phone.

I totally agree with the previous comment. Aside from missing the Snapchat app which appears to be as a result of a vendetta by the owner of the app, there is nothing missing from the app store that most users would need.
With regular updates from Microsoft, the OS gets better and better and for the 950XL model that I have, the AMOLED screen with one the highest resolutions around works perfectly with the renowned Lumia camera and Zeiss lens. With expandable memory, replaceable battery and the familiarity of Windows desktop too absolutely this a device you should go for. It’s not horrible at all!
