Mazda 3 Gets Facelift, No Turbochargers Until Next Generation

By  |

The facelifted version of the Mazda 3 is set to come to the US soon and it is going to bring with it plenty of new. However if you were hoping to see the turbocharged SkyActiv engine you are going to be disappointed as this isn’t arriving until the next generation.

So there is bad news in that the Mazda 3 Facelift isn’t going to arrive with the turbocharged engine even though Mazda said that the new engine would be coming with every vehicle starting with the Mazda CX-9.

Some people might say that this should have been obvious as a change to the engine is only going to happen with a next generation vehicle and not the Mazda 3 Facelift. It would be strange to see a new engine in what is only a mid-cycle refresh of the brand.

However on the bright side is the fact that the SkyActiv Turbocharged engine is going to be coming with the Mazda 3 that should make its way out before 2020. The big question is whether when it arrives it will make people forget about the old Mazdaspeed 3.
