LG Nexus 4: New Batch Ditches Glittery Design, 4.2.2 Preloaded?

The LG Nexus 4 has been wowing the punters with its great build quality – something Android fans have been short of so far.

New LG Nexus 4 rear & Android 4.2.2 preloaded?

We’ve been raving about the styling and build quality of this phone since it came out – it’s as good as the iPhone 5 even. There have been, however, a few complaints about the rear glass, though, as it’s proved a bit weaker than we’d have expected.

We’ve got news of a mixed blessing now – a lot of readers who have only recently got an LG Nexus 4 are saying that it looks a bit different to earlier models. It looks like LG has changed the rear crystal glass casing to make it a bit tougher.

This is great news, but the LG Nexus 4 has lost its sparkle. The glitter effect seen on the first batch has gone, no matter how you hold it up to the light, it’s lost its shine. LG has said nothing so far, but more than a dozen readers – all of sound mind, we assume – can’t be imagining it. This latest batch of phones from the Google Play Store has something different about it.

We’ve actually got in touch with LG to ask about this issue, and we’ll let you know what’s going on with the LG Nexus 4 as soon as we hear. Simultaneously, there have been reports from retailers in Brazil and Malaysia of LG Nexus 4 units shipping out with Android 4.2.2 preloaded. Not much is known about this unannounced update at this time but we can only imagine it is a minor bug fix.
