LG Nexus 4 Cracks Like A Coconut After 2ft Carpet Drop

The LG Nexus 4 launched at the end of last year and with it came a string of praises in regards to its beautiful design. Many tech gurus said the Nexus 4 design rivaled the likes of the iPhone 5, which was very rare to hear indeed.

LG Nexus 4 fragile on both sides

Unfortunately it wasn’t long after that we heard reports of the rear glass being more fragile than other similar designed devices like the iPhone 4 & 4S. The folks over at Droid-Life even reportedly said that their demo LG Nexus 4 unit cracked simply by being placed on a cold counter top. They believe it was due to the sudden temperature fluctuation.

Well there is now a Reddit user who posted about her devastating experience with the Nexus 4 and it appears that the front glass isn’t that tough either. According to the Redditor, her LG Nexus 4 screen cracked after being dropped on a carpet just 2 feet off the floor. This is what YunoGirl had to say:

Seriously? It fell out of my pocket as I was kneeling. Screen cracked and there is damaged on both sides of the frame where it bounced on the carpet (thick carpet, hardwood below). I’ve had this phone for three days.. I’ve had iPhone 4, 4S, and GSII and never has a phone been this fragile. I’m super choked that I wasted an upgrade to get this phone. What should I do?

Some Redditors have come in on LG’s defence and said that it was bad luck as geometry dictates every smartphone has the certain angle which will have it shatter no matter how small the impact may seem.

What’s your experience with the LG Nexus 4? Has it encountered any drops and is it still in pristine condition?
