Jeep Grand Wagoneer Might Have To Wait Until 2020

If you are waiting to get behind the wheel of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer you might have to wait for some time to come yet. We heard that the vehicle had been cancelled but the news is a bit better as it hasn’t, but we are not expecting it to arrive until 2020 at the earliest.

Just why the Jeep Grand Wagoneer has been put on the back burner isn’t quite known. However some people have some ideas as to why it may have happened. For once Fiat Chrysler do seem to be strapped for cash at the moment and this may be the main reason.

The FCA has been trying to re-launch the Alfa Romeo globally along with them being behind the Jeep Wrangler and the next gen RAM 1500. Plus they are retooling plants for the production site shuffle up. This all needs a great deal of money and after all of these things it may be that the Jeep Grand Wagoneer just isn’t top priority for them.

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer isn’t a cheap vehicle by any means. It would be very expensive and at the moment the FCA don’t have anywhere they could build it. This is a full sized SUV that was going to have the base of the extended Jeep Grand Cherokee platform. However it would mean that the body-on-frame assembly plant would need a transformation and this would cost a great deal of cash.

However it isn’t all doom and gloom for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer as it is thought that the FCA are thinking about making it on another platform and it could help them with the development costs along with them not having to make a huge layout at the Warren plant.

When the Jeep Grand Wagoneer does make its way out it will be going up against the likes of the Lincoln Navigator and GMC Yukon and not the Land Rover Range Rover, which is higher end.
