The wait is still on-going for the untethered jailbreak for the latest iOS 6 from Apple for the iPhone and iPad, however it is said to be coming ever closer.

Phone-Reviews reports that a student in the UK claims to be working on the jailbreak and at the moment it seems they are ahead of the race in which Chronic Dev team and pod2g are also taking part. The student has some people helping and together they are now dubbed Team Dr1zzle. The team is said to be working on the jailbreak for iPhone 5, 4S, 4 and 3GS, while another member works on it for the iPad.

The student from the UK came onto the scene when he claimed to be just days away from jailbreaking iOS 6 with the help of a modded version of Redsn0w. This news sent sparks of electricity through the community of jailbreakers, with some not knowing whether to believe the news or not.

Now it appears that the team has sent out proof of their efforts by way of photos. However whether they are the real deal remains to be seen. If it is true then they would have pulled off an amazing feat.

Of course jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad is not recommended as if something goes wrong you could turn your device into an expensive paperweight. The team have said that they will post further proof by way of a video to back up their claims of the jailbreak. Even if they are close it could still be weeks away before we finally see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6, so let’s hope that it’s not all a pack of lies.

Dwayne is a jack of all trades. Not only is he an executive editor and collaborates on many stories here at Autoomobile, but he also does artwork and handles the running of the website on a daily basis. We’re not sure what we would do without Dwayne, especially on those days when we have a great scoop and our servers can’t handle the influx of traffic.
